This is a musical that will show the unconditional love of dogs and how they help veterans suffering from PTSD.
ANGELZ WITH TAILZ SYNOPSIS
ACT 1
ANGELA and ANGELO are two Angels with PTSD. Angela repairs harps and Angelo repairs the Angel’s wings, jobs at the bottom of the totem pole in Heaven. They dream of the day when they can earn their wings by helping those in need.
SERGEANT STUBBS and CORPORAL KAY are the head of the recruitment department. They try to keep their love affair secret but everyone knows about it. It looks like Angela and Angelo will never get their chance but their break comes in when all Hell breaks loose in Heaven!
Angela and Angelo find themselves running wild in New York City as puppies, a Golden Retriever and a Pitbull. They are captured and placed in the Children of the Rainbow Rescue Shelter where they learn from the other dogs how to act like a dog.
The judge at the Veteran’s Treatment Court sentences SERGEANT LUIS MONTALVÁN, a wheelchair bound veteran suffering from PTSD to train a service dog for himself at the rescue shelter. Luis is forced to take Angela who refuses to go unless Angelo can be adopted too.
DR. OXY KATZEIMER, a volunteer at the shelter has noticed that Angela is a special pure breed Golden Retriever with high levels of Oxytocin, the chemical that bonds dogs and humans. Dr. Oxy actually hates dogs and wants to make cats the most popular pet. She is concocting a hybird Oxytocin for cats. She feeds Angela dog biscuits spiked with a sedative when Angela is running around Central Park. Then dognaps her.
End of ACT 1
ACT 2
Angelo and Luis search for Angela. Dr. Oxy leads the movement to pass the Breed Specific Legislation against Pitbulls. Angelo sacrifices his life to save Angela and awaits being euthanized. At the last minute Luis and Angela saves Angelo. They celebrate with a community dog show in Central Park where all the dogs that were waiting to be adopted are paraded with their owners. Sergeant Stubbs and Corporal K award Angela and Angelo their wings.

The Beginning of the Story
I was sitting at a piano in Venice, CA and watching a friend play with her two dogs. I mentioned to her that the dogs were her angels since they were the only family she had. Then I remembered the Christmas movie classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” about Clarence, an angel earning his wings by helping George see how rich he was with the love of his family and his community.
So the journey into creating a musical began. It has evolved into two angels trying to earn their wings as a service dog and a therapy dog. ANGELA will be a Golden Retriever, a service dog who will be helping Sergeant Luis Montalván with his PTSD. ANGELO will be a Pit Bull, a therapy dog who scares people.
Dr. Oxy Katzeimer is a power hungry research scientist who wants cats to be the most loved pet. She has a secret weapon to make cats more loveable – Oxytocin!

David Frei is the commentator for the NBC Thanksgiving National Dog Show. He wrote a book about therapy dogs, “Angel On a Leash” that I have been using for research. I have spent time with David at the Westminster Dog Show and the Beverly Hills Dog show. He has enthusiastically endorsed this musical.
I contacted Captain Luis Montalván, who wrote the book “Till Tuesday”. It is about his recovery from PTSD with the help of his service dog Tuesday. I was updating him on my progress and was hoping to meet him in person but unfortunately he committed suicide last year after getting his leg amputated. I am honoring his memory by using his name for the veteran in the show.

I have been going to the Veteran’s Treatment Court in Honolulu to observe what veteran’s are going through at their last chance, their last stop before serving their sentence for crimes they committed when they segued from the military to civilian life. Judge Kubo is a supporter of the musical. Vietnam veteran Ron Stebbins who has PTSD is also a supporter of the musical. Ron brings his service/therapy dog to help calm the nerves of the veterans. Ron has been my military consultant.

Big Mahalo to Judge Kubo and Ron Stebbins who have given so much Aloha to the veterans. I appreciate their help in my research to understand the plight of the veterans returning to civilian life.

2nd rehearsal with the Angelz!

The piano in LA where the show began.

The LA home where "Angelz with Tailz" was born.

1st Act - Scene 3 takes place in Heaven. Will open with the Angels jamming on drums!
YouTube Links - Music videos of songs from the show. These are all works in progress and allowed me to experiment with editing and trying different story lines.
-
WOUNDED WARRIORS - featuring Julio Hanson and Aaron Loo.
This song is from the first act in the scene of the Veteran’s Treatment Court. This song pays tribute to all veterans of wars. My dad was a WW II veteran and I have friends who are veterans too. Al Harrington who was Ben Kokua in the original Hawaii Five-0 used to tell me that the Japanese American veterans who fought in WW II needed to be given more recognition for their sacrifice. I made a point of giving them more prominence. I learned from the Mexican American veterans that they too suffered from racism and prejudices.
-
Life of the Party - featuring Meleana Brown and Aaron Loo.
This song ends the first act where Angela has been drugged and is seemingly drunk at the party to celebrate the progress of Sergeant Luis with his PTSD because of the help of Angela and Angelo.
-
NYC - featuring Marion Ramsey.
The setting after Heaven is New York City. I appreciated DeWitt Fleming Jr. tap dancing in front of the Apollo Theater in Harlem when it was minus ten degrees at midnight! Then we went down to Times Square to shoot him tap dancing there. Also was able to record Spaceman on guitar and Chuggy Carter on congas at Spaceman’s studio in Harlem. Chuggy was playing the cowbell in front of the Apollo. There is a running joke about adding more cowbell to make a song better!
INVESTING IN ANGELZ WITH TAILZ
Broadway investing is a high risk investment that can bring amazing returns like the musical “The Fantasticks”.
‘Fantasticks’ Pays Back for 50 Years
The musical that everyone wishes they invested in – The Lion King
The theatrical version of The Lion King has become the most lucrative entertainment event in history, but who is profiting?
It can be a fun, fulfilling and yes, hopefully a profitable experience. I often call investing in Broadway shows, “The riskiest investment you’ll love to make.” This show has the winning ingredients of being topical (Veterans with PTSD) and universal appeal (DOGS!). And the added dimension of being magical (Angels)!
This show is looking for brave and fearless Angels who love dogs and want to support the returning veterans who are suffering from PTSD.
I want to see this show produced on Broadway and touring around the world. I want investors who want to get on the roller coaster with me and see how far we can go and see how many hearts we can touch!
Please contact me if you are interested and I will send you an information packet about investing in this show.
